CAO Ziekenhuizen salary scales and nursing remuneration framework.
CURRENT SCALE: 1 AUGUST 2026
CAO ZIEKENHUIZEN
Nursing salaries in Dutch hospitals are determined through the CAO Ziekenhuizen. Jobs are classified into FWG function groups, rather than using one national nursing salary grade.
| FWG group | Gross monthly salary | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| FWG 45 | €3,463 – €4,914 | Hospital nursing roles depending on job evaluation |
| FWG 50 | €3,463 – €4,914 | Registered / specialist nursing roles depending on function |
| FWG 55 | €3,903 – €5,503 | Advanced / specialist responsibilities |
ADDITIONAL PAY
The CAO also provides holiday allowance, year-end payment and additional payments for irregular working hours where applicable.
PAY BASIS
The published hospital salary tables are based on a full-time 36-hour working week. Actual placement depends on the evaluated function and experience.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
Nurses practising in the Netherlands require registration in the BIG register.
